Notts ASA Stage 1 Gala – Saturday 28th January 2017

On Saturday 28th January, Bramcote competed in the Notts ASA Stage 1 gala at Water Meadows in Mansfield.

This gala is aimed at the 8-11 year age groups, giving our younger swimmers an opportunity to compete against other clubs in Nottinghamshire.

Congratulations to Ben Tunstall, Freya Jones and Neve Smithson who competed for Bramcote for the first time!

Bramcote’s swimmers swam brilliantly with lots of first places and fast times, which resulted in a very tight fight between us and Sutton for first place for the entire competition. In the end, we were just pipped by 1 (Yes, just 1!) point, with Bramcote finishing with 189 points and Sutton on 190 points.

This is a fantastic result as many swimmers were competing for Bramcote for only the second or third time as well, showing that our relatively inexperienced swimmers are more than a match for the other Nottinghamshire clubs.

Bramcote also had no DQs (disqualifications) over the 41 events, which always makes the coaches here at Bramcote very pleased!

The final results are as follows:

1st – Sutton (190)

2nd – Bramcote (189)

3rd – Mansfield (154)

4th – Worksop (140)

5th – Sherwood ‘B’ (78)

6th – Nottingham Northern (71)

Overall, it was a very pleasing night for Bramcote Swimming Club with a nice 2nd place trophy to add to our collection. Well done again to all of the swimmers who competed!

Go Bramcote!

(report by Tom Lyons-thanks Tom!)
