About Us

Bramcote Swimming Club was founded in 1965, when our ‘home’ pool at Bramcote Leisure Centre was built. The club has since enjoyed continuous activity and a strong membership, helping thousands of swimmers to develop their interest in the sport.

Our vision is to equip our swimmers in achieving their full potential. Our club values are

  • To respect all members, parents, coaches and officials
  • To commit to train, compete, achieve whilst having fun
  • To be an ambassador for the club at all times
  • To encourage swimmers to strive for individual and team success

We aim to achieve this by providing a secure, caring and orderly environment where each child is encouraged to work together during training and to compete as a team as well as an individual.

We hold annual club championships, and encourage all members to compete in a range of competitions from local galas through to national championships, participating in both team and individual events. We work closely with Broxtowe Council and local schools to grow our membership and develop the sport long term within the borough. The club feeds many of its more gifted swimmers through to Nottingham Nova Centurion, effectively the county squad, where development to the highest level (international) training is available. 2015 saw the launch of BSC AquaStars synchro, our synchronised swimming team.

Bramcote Swimming Club Academy accepts children aged 5 to 9 who can swim a minimum of 20 metres. The Bramcote SC Academy is a new programme launched in January 2017 to prepare talented young swimmers for club swimming. The Academy works alongside your child’s existing swim school and sessions at the Academy are in addition to lessons at your child’s swim school. Your child will be one of a small group of children all of a similar level of competence. We run sessions in the Main Pool at Bramcote Leisure Centre and at The Lenton Centre. All sessions are led by Swim England Level 2 qualified swimming teachers with support from other qualified teachers and poolside volunteers who are all fully DBS checked and have undergone safeguarding training, in line with SwimMark guidance. (SwimMark is Swim England’s ‘quality’ mark).  All sessions are supervised by a qualified lifeguard.

We also welcome enquiries from children and adults who are competent swimmers. Newcomers are assessed by the coaching staff and are placed into groups based upon their age and capabilities. Main Pool swimmers train in one of our three swim squads Junior, Intermediate or Senior based on their age and capabilities. For more information on our main squads, see Squad Overview.

The swimming squads represent the Club in competitive galas around the region. Bramcote hosts some of the galas, but we also travel to places like Hucknall, Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Braunstone, and Carlton to name just a few!

If you’d like to come and see what a session is like and/or sign up for a free taster session, please get in touch by filling in your details on our ‘Join Us’ page (no obligation)
