Derby and Notts Round 3 (‘A’ Final) Report

After two tough rounds Bramcote competed in the ‘A’ final of the Derby and Notts Junior League on Saturday 24th June. This is the second year in a row that Bramcote has reached the A final.

Bramcote achieved 5 first places, with numerous second and third place finishes in addition, which is an improvement on last year, with nearly all races being won (and lost) on the touch.  It demonstrated that every part of the race is as important as each other; whether it be the start, turn or finish.

A great team spirit prevailed with fantastic enthusiasm from the swimmers (and parents!) with their support for the team, with every swimmer being cheered to the finish.

Although it was a second consecutive fifth place finish, this year resulted in a much closer competition, with there not being much relative difference between third and fifth place; and also Bramcote achieving a higher points total than last year.

The final results were:

  1. City of Derby – 206
  2. Nottingham Leander – 193
  3. CABSC – 167
  4. Sutton – 159
  5. Bramcote – 145
  6. Belper – 101

Congratulations to all swimmers who made this year’s Derby and Notts League competition another big success, including those who swam in previous rounds to help us reach the final!

Overall (and provisionally), we finished in 5th place in the league out of 28 clubs – again demonstrating a fantastic achievement!

As hosts of the gala, we got a brilliant response to our requests for help on the night. Huge thanks to all our coaches, team managers, officials, those on the door, recorders, announcer, to Cheryl, our new gala co-ordinator who did a fantastic job and to our co-hosts Notts Leander. Also, thanks must go to Katie who provided the face paint and Seema who created all the flags for everyone to wave – a big effort which is greatly appreciated by all!
